Weren't Democrats Opposed to 'Christian Nationalism'?

Weren't Democrats Opposed to 'Christian Nationalism'?

When President Trump nominated Pete Hegseth to be Secretary of War, the Left made a big deal about Hegseth's tattoos, especially the Jerusalem cross. That, they claimed, was a symbol of 'white supremacy' and 'Christian nationalism' that rendered Hegseth unfit for the job.

Funny, that. I have a wooden Jerusalem cross hanging above my back door. I saw it as nothing more than an ancient Christian symbol, and one that also graced the cover of former President Jimmy Carter's funeral program. I guess that's (D)ifferent.

'Christian nationalism' is one of the Left's current boogeymen, a manifestation of their abject terror that some people might want to live in a moral society rooted in Judeo-Christian values instead of their atheistic, anarcho-terrorist socialist dystopia.

But when it's convenient, Democrats embrace their brand of Christianity. It manifests itself in guys like James Talarico, who thinks the Bible condones abortion but finds displaying the Ten Commandments to be problematic, who invokes a communist ideology when praying to God, but can't bring himself to call women anything other than 'neighbors with a uterus'

Cory Booker did that, too, claiming Jesus would be with the gay kids and the trans kids today.

"You want to know where Jesus would be today? He'd be with the gay kids that are being demonized. He'd be with the trans kid who is being vilified," Booker said. "Look around, who society condemns. He'd be in prisons with the condemned. That's where I think Jesus would stand and would be calling on all of us, 'Cast the first stone.' Would be calling all of us, 'Show me your mercy and your love.'"

Right. Because Jesus ate and sat with sinners. Not to condone or approve of their behavior, but to correct their behavior and save them. That's what it means to 'love thy neighbor as thyself.'

Jesus is sometimes referred to as the Great Physician, because — like doctors — He was here to treat the sick. Not sick physically, per se, although He did give the blind sight and make the lame walk, but those most in need of salvation and spiritual healing.

The Democrats do not think their asinine statements through to their logical conclusions. They believe, as Talarico said, that Jesus was simply just a 'barefoot rabbi' who said some really neat things about love and peace, some ancient Stuart Smalley who had deep thoughts.

No, He was the Son of God, sent to die for our sins to secure our salvation.

All of this is, of course, fine with Democrats. They're going to push this narrative that progressive, heretical Christianity and the Leftists who profess it are the real Christians. All of us Christians who believe in sexual morality, oppose abortion, and frown on other Leftist policies are out of touch and just don't understand the theology that has persisted for millennia. The founders of the church, the authors of the Bible, were all wrong and needed 21st-century Democrats to tell them what Jesus was really all about.
