Democrats support unfettered illegal immigration and soft-on-crime policies because they're largely insulated from the consequences of their own policies. As we saw a couple of years ago, when a busload of illegal immigrants was dropped off in Martha's Vineyard, the oh-so-tolerant, sanctuary city-loving Leftists couldn't remove those icky immigrants quickly enough.
In the same way, Leftists live in rich enclaves where the criminals they set loose dare not set foot. They, like the illegals in Martha's Vineyard, would quickly be escorted out of the neighborhood. In all things, rules and laws are for the little guy and not the Democrats who enact those policies.
And when Democrats are confronted with the reality of their policies, including the very deadly consequences of letting career criminals run loose in our communities.
In Providence, Rhode Island, Leftists were very upset about a mural honoring Iryna Zarutska, the young woman who was stabbed to death by repeat violent felon Decarlos Brown, Jr. They bullied a gay bar into halting the painting of a mural of Iryna after Providence Mayor Smiley said he wanted it removed. He called the mural "misguided."
Now New Haven, Connecticut, Mayor Justin Elicker — another Democrat — is attacking a mural of Iryna in his hometown. He calls it "not productive."

"But it's about how we have that conversation, and from everything I've seen with this campaign, it's not a really productive way to talk about these important issues," Elicker said.
I'm willing to bet that Elicker wouldn't feel the same if a mural of George Floyd were painted on a building in New Haven. In fact, he painted a BLM mural in 2020.

There is no conversation to be had about this issue. Elicker's fellow Democrat, Roy Cooper, let Brown out of prison and judges repeatedly cut him loose despite more than a dozen arrests.
Brown should have been in prison for the rest of his life long before he crossed paths with Iryna. She'd still be alive, and our community would be safer. That's the facts, and there's nothing to discuss beyond that.
Criminals belong behind bars. Insane people should be institutionalized. Full stop.
Instead, judges let Brown walk time and again. He went on to stab Iryna in the neck on Charlotte's light rail system, telling other passengers, "I got that white girl," after she bled out on the floor of the train. Brown was recently found incompetent to stand trial on the state charges.
All that means is he'll be institutionalized just long enough so that we'll forget about him, then some judge will order him released, where he will go on to murder another innocent person.

Iryna doesn't give them a political advantage, so they will do everything they can to erase her from our collective memory.

That's exactly what this is. Iryna is a problem for their agenda, so they must pretend that what happened to her never happened.
There should be an image of Iryna in every blue city so Democrats have to face every day what they've done, because if there's a conversation to be had, it's how Democrat policies kill innocent people.
