It’s not The Parent Trap per se, but it’s a wholesome moment between two Montana teenagers who finally meet at a softball tournament. The two teenagers bear an uncanny resemblance. They couldn’t deny it until one of them asked her mother about the other girl on the opposing team. A quick roster check confirmed it, which led to a game-changing moment.

Samantha Rensvold knew something was up. She was adopted, knew she had a sister, but that was about it. Her mother knew her sister’s name was Kyann. The roster check and their physical resemblance led to a family reunion. Both Kyann Dean and Samantha Rensvold were adopted by separate families, lived in the same state, but grew up 400 miles apart (via NY Post):

A Montana softball player who met her long-lost sister when she faced her sibling on the field told The Post the chance encounter made her feel “complete.”

“At first it was almost freaky, like I was looking at myself — our mannerisms and stuff,” Samantha Rensvold, 19, said Thursday. “And then it felt like part of me was complete.”

Rensvold was playing in a softball tournament in Belgrade in August 2025 when a teammate noticed Kyann Dean, 18, on the opposing squad.

“She could not ignore the resemblance,” Rensvold said. “She knew Kyann was adopted, so it was an awkward question in the dugout when she asked me if I was adopted — but I’m really glad she did.”

“I was obviously nervous at first,” Rensvold explained. “At first, it was just a hand shake because technically we were strangers and it was hard to navigate. But then we met each others’ parents and it started to feel more comfortable, like family.”

“We would sit together at the tournament and make each other laugh,” she said.

Rensvold — who now exchanges daily text messages with Dean— said the relationship fills a missing piece of her family background.

What a coincidence, huh?
