College football is back, though the first couple of weeks have been rough. It’s nothing unusual: some top programs play these Saint Mary’s of the blind, deaf, and dumb teams to kick off the year. Hence, the blowout city we’ve seen over the past 10 days or so. Yet this game between Michigan and Western Michigan will be talked about all season. And yes, it looks like Western Michigan got robbed, big league. How can this be when zero seconds were left on the clock?

The game was not some high-octane showdown. It was 9-7, Western Michigan, with about 3:10 left in the fourth quarter. Michigan quarterback Bryan Underwood fumbled the ball before the two-minute timeout, and Western Michigan recovered it. They kicked another field goal. The drive by Michigan is where things get iffy. Underwood launched the ball toward the end zone. Time had clearly expired, and the play was broken up by Western Michigan, but an official review put one second back on the clock, and this time Underwood connected for the walk-off touchdown. In real time, the announcers and everyone were saying the game was over before the official review.

There must be an investigation:

I mean, that’s just good ole’ fashioned rigging.
