DiJonai Carrington's Explains Her 'White Privilege' Tweet After Clotheslining Sophie Cunningham

The Chicago Sky’s DiJonai Carrington explained why she tweeted “white privilege” after committing a hard foul against the Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham during their August 8 game. It looked like an assault — she clotheslined her. She was assessed a flagrant II and ejected from the game. This isn’t complicated, folks: any foul like this and you’re gone. It’s just the way it is. Carrington later took to Instagram Live to explain her tweet and the foul, only to make more of a mess. She thought the ejection was unfair because it was an accident.

It was a mistake. I was literally trying to hit the ball, and I ended up hitting her. Any reasonable official would have seen that I was going for the ball, but instead, everyone turned a blind eye, and I was ejected. That really hurts because it feels so unfair.

That’s not how this works, Carrington. Even accidentally, this foul gets you tossed. That’s why you got ejected, not because of white privilege. Also, you have to chuckle at the “any reasonable official” line. We know there are none in this league.

Carrington deactivated her Twitter account. Also, if this was accidental, what was with the “8/23” tweet?

Did Cunningham commit a similar foul? Yes, she admitted it, and said she deserved to be ejected. She also didn't tweet 'white power' or something equally stupid after she was escorted off the court.
