The New York Times has gone so long without committing an act of journalism against someone with a D next to their name that they were forced to publish an explainer article detailing the thought process behind their exposé on Mary Peltola’s fake Dan Sullivan scheme.
New York Times has to write a whole article explaining to their readers why they wrote a news story which hurt a democratic candidate https://t.co/lTu4BbJ5zE

An eye-opening glimpse into the liberal state of mind came in the comments of a post from a Politico reporter who pretended like the decision to run a story like this was an everyday occurrence.
NYT again tries to explain to its aggrieved readers what a newspaper is and what it is supposed to do. Hint: Its job isn't to get Democrats elected, even in the Trump era https://t.co/4XtvkwNkSQ

Half of the comments are from leftists complaining that Democrats are held to the highest of standards from the media, while Republicans are held to no standards at all. It’s as if these people live in a completely different world. Just look at what we’ve seen recently.
The capture of CBS by somewhat right-of-center figures has pushed the outlet maybe two steps right of the DNC mouthpiece it once was. Based on the Left’s reaction, you would have thought that it was now state media run by Trump Inc. Guess which outlet is bending over backwards to paint the Trump administration as the true evil in the Peltola scandal?
Asked about the Justice Department’s investigation into the Alaska Senate race, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) told @margbrennan on Friday he sees a pattern of President Trump "trying to prejudge an outcome, file a bunch of lawsuits to silence the voices of the voters before they've had their say, and he's already showing that he is going to go to court should the result not be what he wants.” "What is clear to me is that Donald Trump tries to use the Justice Department to silence people who disagree with him, to try and silence the voices of those who might make a different choice in the ballot box than he would want," he said.

This will be the one story that gets all of the journalists in that crowd to pat themselves on the back for. The Times will be lauded over as a paragon of virtue and truth for this, and for no good reason.
Let’s not forget that Townhall had begun opening the can of worms into Decoy Dan’s candidacy way back in May when we reported that his campaign was being run by a well known Peltola ally. The Times didn’t care to jump into the story until less than a week before the election. Prominent liberal media figures are still running cover for Peltola. This isn’t some shining example of how the truth always prevails in newsrooms. This is just a case of one outlet deciding to do its job when it adversely impacts their politician friends for once in their lives.
Let’s not give three cheers for the Times for doing the bare minimum.
