An unprecedented number of people are making some rather shocking statements regarding the scheduled public execution of Nidal Hasan. Take a look:

I love how the "pro life" crowd is frothing at the mouth to watch a public execution

The most notable aspect of these people’s leftist sensibilities is to essentially declare Hasan innocent.
The political cartoon couldn’t better capture that. An innocent Western woman, presumably being executed for her Christian faith by a member of ISIS, is equated to the U.S. government executing a terrorist who murdered 13 Americans. The difference between the two scenarios is, perhaps willfully, lost upon the artist.
The ones that compare it to abortion are even more outlandish. Once again in their eyes, an innocent child in the womb who was only guilty of the apparent crime of being conceived would receive a justified execution, but Hasan’s execution, who happened to also murder a child in its mother’s womb, is conservative bloodlust.
Politicians, even those are ostensibly on the right, are falsely equating what is taking place. Here’s Nikki Haley’s statement on the issue:
Who still carries out public executions: The Iranian regime The North Korean regime The Taliban in Afghanistan Al-Shabaab in Somalia That is not the company we want to keep or the country we want to be.

Once again, the individuals executed by those states aren’t exactly committing terror attacks, are they? What’s the point in making these false equivalencies? Is it to feel morally superior, or simply a lack of critical thinking? The reality is probably a mixture of the two.
At least some people on social media haven’t gone completely insane:
If by “step out of line,” you mean murdering and wounding 45 unarmed soldiers, then yes, that’s the message.

Who would’ve ever guessed that the execution of a terrorist would have completely broken so many minds?
