It was a pretty crazy Saturday for college football. From last minute plays to baffling moments, it was a great week for the sport.
The first comes out of Harvard, who had a last minute Hail Mary-turned lateral to take home the win against Colgate. If it came from an FBS school, I would imagine that it would be a contender for play of the year, but alas.

The next is the entirety of whatever Deion Sanders was doing with Colorado this week. First, someone left a playbook in a hotel bar that was discovered by a Texas Tech fan who attempted to get it over to the team (no telling if that actually happened or not). Then Tech managed to pick off Colorado in their own endzone. Then Colorado simply forgot to play defense on a field goal attempt despite taking a time out. I’ve never seen anything quite like it.
WILD: The Colorado playbook left at a hotel matched the 1st & 2nd half openers perfectly. Absolute negligence by Colorado 🤯

This has to be one of the funniest pick-sixes in history https://t.co/jRkXWCkLjX

Colorado took a timeout because there were only 8 players out for FG block They then came out after the timeout with only 9 players

Speaking of Colorado, the Colorado State defensive coordinator Tyson Summers managed to get fired from his job during the first quarter of his team’s game against Oregon State. Instead of finishing the job for the night, he decided to walk off the field. Oregon State ended up winning by 30 points.
Colorado State HC Jim Mora fired his defensive coordinator, Tyson Summers, in the first quarter during the team's 56–26 loss to Oregon State. Summers, who was the team's interim head coach for part of last season, left the field after being relieved of play-calling duties. https://t.co/8c4SyFGPNJ

NEW: Colorado State HC Jim Mora explains why he dismissed DC Tyson Summers: “Tyson was relieved of his play calling duties, he made the decision on his own to leave the field, and he is no longer with this football program.” 😳 Says this wasn’t something he anticipated.

This one was particularly crazy considering that Colorado State only gave up 14 in the first quarter and were 2-2 at the time with losses to superior opponents. Can’t say that I’ve watched a single snap of Colorado State football this season, but I would have to guess that there is a bit more to this story.
Since everything in the news, particularly in the political media landscape, is so negative, I figured that I would end with a couple of heartwarming moments.
The first comes from Cal’s match-up against UNLV. Cal quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele suffered a head injury from a hit after releasing the ball. He managed to stumble his way back into the huddle when wide receiver Ian Strong noticed that he wasn’t acting normally and kept his teammate from getting injured further. Good on him.

The second comes from the Iowa game against Ohio State. WNBA fan-favorite Caitlin Clark joined the kids in Iowa Children’s Hospital and participated in the iconic Iowa Wave, one of the best local traditions in football.
