Republican Rep. Max Miller (OH-7) says he is remaining in his reelection campaign despite the scandal over his alleged abuse of his former wife.
Miller is accused of physically abusing his wife, Emily Moreno, daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH).

Denounced on social media and by fellow Republicans, Ohio Rep. Max Miller is telling allies he's not quitting for a simple reason: It would be tantamount to admitting he beat his ex-wife and their child, which he denies.
Why it matters: The Washington summer scandal is a case study in whether Miller — one of Donald Trump's understudies — can successfully employ the president's playbook of never backing down and never quitting.
Trump has publicly expressed sympathy for Miller but privately expressed doubts about his viability.
One of Miller’s fellow lawmakers told Axios that “He’s really worried about what his daughter is going to think when she gets older” and that if he drops out of the race, “he’s basically giving up.”
"And if he gives up, it basically means he did it,” the individual said.

A recent campaign event in Strongsville was canceled due to alleged threats. He was set to appear with Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13). However, Strongsville GOP Chairman Shannon Burns explained that the threats “made the event untenable.”
After consultation with law enforcement and the venue, the number and nature of the threats received have made the event untenable. We cannot responsibly expose our guests, attendees, volunteers, venue staff, or law enforcement officers to an unacceptable safety risk.
Let that sink in: In the United States of America, threats and intimidation have succeeded in shutting down a peaceful political gathering focused on election integrity and ensuring that only American citizens vote.
This did not happen in a vacuum. Congressman Miller’s opponent is being powered by a national political and financial machine that includes George Soros’s family, AOC’s campaign manager, and a significant effort by a major data-center company.
They have every right to oppose Congressman Miller. They have every right to organize, spend money, and make their case to voters. But their political allies have chosen something far darker: intimidation and threats designed to silence speech, frighten citizens, and stop our election-integrity efforts.
That is not democracy. That is political coercion.
Today, intimidation may have won a round. It will not win this fight.

Miller’s former wife claims he held a gun to her head, scalded her with hot water, and was linked to their toddler daughter’s broken collarbone. Miller has denied all the allegations.
The latest polling shows Democrat Brian Poindexter leading Miller 47 percent to 33 percent.
