I have to thank Abdul El-Sayed for putting the final nail in the coffin of his Medicare for All scheme. Yesterday, Michigan Republican Mike Rogers blasted El-Sayed for comments Abdul made about breast cancer funding, and it brings me back to a point I've made for years: Medicare for All would be used as a political weapon.
See, Abdul thinks the way we promote and allocate funding and research for breast cancer — a disease that will impact one in eight American women during her life — is "disturbing." Why?
Because he thinks it's distributed based on the "social power and privilege" of the groups impacted.

In a 2012 essay, El-Sayed called federal funding for breast cancer research a "disturbing" trend that diverts federal funding from other serious diseases.
"If I weren't an epidemiologist, It would have me believing that the women around me were in imminent danger," El-Sayed wrote. He went on to say the funding created problems "for equity in health research allocation" because it gave funding to diseases that affect people with "social power and privilege."
Really? Breast cancer affects women. Is the Islamist saying that women in America have "power and privilege"? Because breast cancer doesn't only affect white women..
The latest NCI/SEER data put breast cancer incidence at 132.4 cases per 100,000 black women annually and 107.9 per 100,000 Hispanic women (2019–2023). Mortality is 25.9 deaths per 100,000 black women and 13.4 per 100,000 Hispanic women. It's the leading cause of cancer death among non-Hispanic black women and Hispanic women. Among White women, there are 141.3 new cases per 100,000 women annually, with 19.1 deaths per 100,000.
Men also get breast cancer, and 2,670 American men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year. 530 men will die from it. We all know how the Left feels about men, so it's no surprise El-Sayed would dismiss these cases.
And while breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among non-Hispanic black women and Hispanic women, it's the second leading cause of cancer death in women overall. In fact, 42,000 women will die from the disease this year.
So I was right, and I want people to understand this: guys like Abdul El-Sayed want Medicare for All not because they care about your health or affordability, but because it is the ultimate means by which they can exact political revenge on their opponents and political control over the rest of us. El-Sayed's comments remove all doubt about that.
Leftists will use the concepts of "equity" and "fairness" to allocate how medical care is not only funded, but how it's distributed. White, heterosexual men and women will be bumped to the bottom of the list, regardless of how sick they are or how urgently they need treatment. Black, Hispanic, and LGBTQ folks will get priority. So if you have cancer but don't check the right intersectionality boxes, you'll have to wait while the black, indigenous transwoman gets her bottom surgery.
If you die, all the better. It saves them money and eliminates a Republican voter at the same time.
"But Amy, El-Sayed said, health care is a right. He can't do that!"
Yes, they can. The Left already tried to ration and deny healthcare to Americans who weren't vaccinated against COVID. There is every reason to believe they would do the same thing under Medicare for All, but at a much larger scale. Not vaccinated? No care. Have too many kids? No care unless you agree to be sterilized or have an abortion. Own guns? We won't treat you until you turn those weapons over to law enforcement. Wrote something the Left doesn't like on Facebook? Your oncologist canceled your appointment.
When they say something is a "right," what they want is for the government to take control of that thing, and then the government most decidedly doesn't treat it as a right. Look at education. Public school was a "right" too, up to the exact moment teachers' unions didn't want to go in the classroom during COVID (but did take trips to exotic locales while your kids lost significant amounts of learning).
Healthcare would be a "right" up until someone like El-Sayed decides you have too much "social power and privilege" to get chemotherapy for your breast cancer. So oppose socialized medicine with every fiber of your being. Your life, quite literally, depends on it.
