Former Virginia NICU nurse Erin Strotman was arrested in early 2025, accused of abusing several babies at Henrico Doctors' Hospital. Strotman was the subject of an internal investigation that began in 2024 after staff found three NICU infants with "unexplained fractures." The cases were similar to incidents involving four infants in the summer of 2023. All told, Strotman was charged with nine counts of felony child abuse.
In June, Strotman, who faced up to 45 years in prison for her crimes, was sentenced to just three years in prison. That came after she reached a plea agreement with prosecutors.
Now Shannon Taylor, the Democrat running for Congress in Virginia's 1st District, is bragging about getting Strotman a slap on the wrist for abusing premature babies.

"Do you feel like, at the end of the day, the hospital was held accountable, the hospital leadership, for what happened in their NICU?" the reporter asked.
"I don't know if we'll ever feel like we've gotten a complete sense of closure to this matter, but at this time, I'm proud of the work that my office has done," Taylor replied.
Erin Strotman needed to be held accountable, and she wasn't. She got three years for abusing nine infants. Nine premature infants, some of the most vulnerable among us. It is a slap in the face to their parents and an insult to justice.

Compare this sentence to one received by a man who simply drove near a 2020 George Floyd riot. That man got six years.

On the other hand, Democrats love criminals and will go out of their way to give them light sentences, if they even get jail time at all. Shannon Taylor wants to go to Congress, and she just let a child abuser get off with a slap on the wrist. Virginia deserves better.
This is inexcusable. There is no reason to give Erin Strotman a sweetheart deal after what she did to infants and their families. They trusted her, and she betrayed that trust. Shannon Taylor betrayed them, too.
