We've warned quite a bit about the dangers of DEI in healthcare. By elevating providers on the basis of their race instead of their competency and qualifications, the safety of patients is compromised.
In the UK, Dr. Yasser Abdel Rahman, an Egyptian, was fired after performing a surgery in which he incorrectly connected part of the small intestine to the stomach. This meant the patient was not only in excruciating pain but that he was recycling the contents of his bowels from the small intestine back to the stomach. That mistake was "incompatible with life," according to the Daily Mail and required another emergency surgery. The patient, fortunately, survived.

Rahman never apologized and said the investigation and firing was a "witch hunt" against him.
So there's no reason why patients in the NHS would balk at being treated by non-white staff.

Some have even been refused to be treated by non-white staff, a poll of its members revealed.
A sonographer in the Midlands, of Asian descent, said several patients have said to her: "This country isn't the same, with all those people coming over here, taking our jobs."
She said such incidents had become "more prevalent", blaming "the media and certain political parties" where people "are openly expressing" such views.
Paul Awah, a Bedfordshire-based diagnostic radiographer originally from Nigeria, added: "It's definitely got worse – people are more expressive now."
"What used to be something people wouldn't say – now the rhetoric has changed."

The inevitable outcome of hiring and promoting people who are not only culturally incompatible but unqualified is that patients would suffer. Those patients are saying no more.

"Wanting a nurse to understand your illness isn't 'racism', it's a basic requirement for treatment. I'd rather be 'racist' than dead," Tomlinson wrote.
And as many pointed out, there's a double standard. Asking for a minority doctor isn't considered racist, but asking for a white doctor is.

So which is it? The Left tells us patients do better when the doctor looks like them, then attacks half the population for wanting a doctor that ... looks like them. It's happening here, too, with Rep. Summer Lee saying she wants more black doctors even if they're unqualified.
