President Trump has started out 2026 with a focus on taking on China’s presence in the Western Hemisphere. His strategy, laid out in the National Security Strategy document made public by the administration on December 4th, 2025, and the Pentagon’s National Defense Strategy, which was released last week, puts reasserting strategic dominance over China in the Western Hemisphere as the top concern for national security. This is great news, as under the Biden administration, China was welcomed into the Western Hemisphere and even into our own country while American economic and military power was systematically weakened. We can already see Trump’s strategy in action, from the Maduro capture, which weakened China’s position in Venezuela and protected the US from the threat of Chinese military presence just south of our border, to his trip to the WEF where he laid out the US economic resurgence and trade dominance for the world to see and negotiated a framework deal for increased US access to Greenland, barring China from encroaching on critical Northern sea routes and weakening North American missile defense capabilities. Just this week, Trump intervened using tariffs to ensure that Canada didn’t ratify a disastrous trade deal with China. However, while all of these wins for securing the Western Hemisphere from China are important, the most important work should actually start right here at home.
President Trump’s China strategy cannot succeed abroad until we remove all the influence networks the CCP has built within our own borders. Through President Trump’s return to peace through strength, and his policy of deterrence at the Southern border and beyond, this administration has luckily stopped any influence from flowing into the country, but the damage that was done during the Biden years, from real estate purchases to espionage networks and more, must be addressed head-on. Right now, the CCP is in flux in China, and due to President Trump’s work abroad, stabilizing chaos that China benefited from and reasserting American energy dominance, China is also facing unprecedented weakness abroad. They are no longer the sole trade partner for many middle powers across the globe, as President Trump has returned the USA to its former status as the world’s preferred trading partner. This means that due to internal and external weakness, partly driven by Xi’s latest purges of top-ranking military officials in his cabinet, we have a prime opportunity to kick China out of the USA and reverse some of the disastrous policies that the Biden administration allowed to pass with regard to Chinese influence in the US. But the Trump administration must act quickly, as the window where Xi is weak and distracted with internal power struggles as well as dwindling regional influence, won’t last forever. This is the perfect moment to remove Chinese influence networks from the USA, as American operations based on US soil are a low priority to Xi as he deals with his own internal politics.

First, the Trump administration must remove Chinese weapons that have been pre-positioned within the US, as this is a critical national security concern. Some reports indicate that the Chinese have already deployed drones near US Air Force bases. This has led some national security experts to believe that the Chinese could be setting up an inside operation to limit or compromise the US Air Force's capability to take off from inside the US, which would be a huge strategic advantage for China in any future Indo-Pacific conflict. US based aircraft would be stopped before they could ever leave US air space if the CCP’s strategy were to come to fruition. These kinds of tactics violate US sovereignty and the Trump administration must make it clear to Xi and the CCP that these strategies will never succeed and will not be tolerated.
Next, and of equal importance, is to ban foreign real estate purchases from Chinese and other adversarial investors. Reports indicate that Chinese investors have scooped up key pieces of land next to 19 military bases and counting in the US, thanks to Beijing Biden and his corrupt approach to business dealings with China. But that’s not all, they’ve also gone after single-family housing as well. At the WEF, Trump highlighted his policy ending corporate real estate purchases in America. He said, “In recent years, Wall Street giants and institutional investment firms – many of you are here. Many of you are good friends of mine, many of you are supporters, sorry to do this. I'm so sorry, but you've driven up housing prices by purchasing hundreds of thousands of single-family homes, and it's been a great investment for them…But homes are built for people, not for corporations, and America will not become a nation of renters. We're not going to do that. That's why I have signed an executive order banning large institutional investors from buying single-family homes. It's just not fair to the public. They're not able to buy a house.” This is a great first step. Trump should take this policy one step further and target adversarial foreign real estate investors who buy up single-family homes and lots. These investors, largely China-based, destroy neighborhoods using the American real estate market to hide money in real estate assets, driving up prices, then leaving empty homes sitting in once vibrant family neighborhoods. This foreign competition is unfair to average Americans, and also stains our real estate market with tainted funds from all kinds of illicit businesses.
The Trump administration must build on the work they are doing to reform immigration, deport illegal immigrants and secure the Southern Border, and remove Chinese nationals who have come here with the explicit intent to take advantage of US immigration loopholes. From Chinese military pilots who came to Arizona and California to receive US-based flight training, to Chinese nationals who exploit birth tourism with the intent to raise US-Chinese dual citizens who hate America, there is no corner of the immigration crisis that is untouched by the China threat. While Congress is the ultimate power that must act on these critical immigration issues, the Trump administration should start by working to reverse policies and loopholes that the Biden admin created through autopen orders, as these can be easily and quickly undone. Thanks to Biden, over 1 million “American citizens” are currently being raised in China under the CCP. Another 30,000 Chinese migrants flowed over the open border under the Biden admin. Most people understand that over 1 million Americans being raised in China is not an accident, and could be used to hurt America in a number of ways from within should the CCP decide to “return” these citizens to the USA. This is an urgent matter for the Trump administration to address in its fight to reform immigration.
Finally, the Trump administration and the DOJ must work to immediately bring criminal prosecutions against all Chinese funding sources going towards the organized civil unrest and insurrections happening in radical left strongholds throughout the country. While, unfortunately, many of these paid agitators are funded by deranged American citizens, there is a significant portion of foreign funding that flows in from China towards paid agitators, public influence operations, online disinformation and propaganda campaigns, and other paid activity that leads to civil unrest. Ending and prosecuting these foreign funding networks will help restore public safety in our cities.
While it is unfortunate that things became so dire under the Biden administration, luckily, due to a combination of internal Chinese political events and global progress from the Trump administration, there is now an opportunity to fix these critical national security breaches and restore American strength from within, while China has limited capacity to respond or retaliate.
