Another year in time is marked. And though 2026 is here, it seems that the calendar has rolled back 100 years for women and girls. A pall hangs over us, and we are left in a twilight space where womanhood feels like a strange trip through Alice's looking glass.

Hyperbolic? Over the top?

Sadly, no.

Over the past three decades, a senseless gender creed has clutched virtually every dominion of human life, from schools to corporations, government, and every place in between. Gender self-ID has legitimized the bizarre ideology of the "gendered soul," a mystical concept that has no tether to material reality. "Transgenderism," once a fringe obsession confined to the outskirts of sexology and the work of psychologists like John Money, entered the bloodstream of academia in the 1990s. The ideology spread wildly: Gender "fluidity," and the rhetoric around it, became a script for this bizarre religion, a cult that demanded bondage at all costs.

The final pillage of women and girls, especially in the sports world, came soon enough by administrative fiat, with a letter issued by Barack Obama's Justice and Education Departments stating that "gender identity is protected under Title IX."

The nebulous and undefined concept of "gender" loomed large over women's sports.

The sports arena now illustrates the problem writ large, where masks are off, and the most egregious outcome of the bizarre world of gender ideology has been exposed in the raw. A place where boys "become" girls and men morph freely into womanhood with a slight tip of the chin, a penciled eye, and a one-piece racer donned. And then, a few small words formed, "I am a woman," which cements the deal. Female athletes at every level have been censored, injured, threatened, removed from podiums and playing fields, and forced to share intimate spaces with men.

Though the "Lia" Thomas fiasco exposed the persistent and unrestrained disrespect of and hostility toward women and girls, the fight to puncture the skin of this misogynistic gender beast endures. And how many women have risked so much to make the most obvious claims? Guts, or as my mother used to say, intestinal fortitude, is what it takes. But at what cost to say that womanhood is not a commodity to be negotiated? That sex is a deal breaker and gender a hairbrained screed?

So, dear readers, it is time to simply tell it like it is: The transgender screed is just another form of an age-old misogyny,  jacked up and retrofitted for the times. Who needs subjugation when we are subsumed and swallowed whole by another "kind" of woman, one spun and branded by a special category of man who demands an iteration of "womanhood" in his own image?

But tides, they turn. Corrections are made. Stalwart efforts by like-minded coalitions formed to resist the efforts of gender ideologues who intended to disrupt women's rights to sovereignty and privacy. People of many political stripes and dogmas who abide by the material reality of sex locked arms. Women's Liberation Front, or WoLF, is a radical feminist organization that works to dismantle gender ideology, a system that upholds the stigmata of patriarchy that deeply injures women and girls. WoLF has been devoted to the preservation of women's sports and spaces from the beginning.

WoLF recognizes that the upcoming SCOTUS cases, scheduled for January 13, are a clarion call for women, for all who understand the material reality of sex. Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J. will determine whether states may enforce laws ensuring that women's and girls' sports remain female-only. WoLF's amicus briefs, filed in both cases, focus on what the courts and media ignore: Males who demand access to women's spaces do so in an attempt to intimidate, harass, and sexually threaten women and girls. We know this from the testimony of women and girls who have been imprisoned with men against their will. We know this from the real world.

Truth, that. One that needs to be told.

And it is this truth that WoLF illuminates in our briefs, through public education as well as policy advocacy. Promoting and inscribing in law the ability of men to inhabit female spaces based on a "sentience" or knowing that such men harbor a female soul blatantly dismantles any legitimate claim to logical thought. It's a twisted logic that should be transparent to everyone: No man is a woman, and it is not regressive to deny his "gendered soul" access to our female spaces. Not in sports. Not in any female sphere.

Simply put: Womanhood is not negotiable.

That is a platform from which we will not stand down.

Margot Heffernan is Board Vice President at Women's Liberation Front. She is a stalwart believer in the abolition of gender ideology. Margot writes and speaks frequently about the harm done to women and girls as a result of this dangerous screed. Find her next at the SCOTUS hearing on January 13.
