Planned Parenthood Does Not Operate in the Public Interest; It Should Not Receive Taxpayer Dollars

When Planned Parenthood released its 2024-2025 annual report in early April, it may have been no surprise that, shamefully, abortions increased under its watch. Taxpayers funded Planned Parenthood to the tune of $800 million, even though most Americans do not want taxpayer funding to go toward abortions.

But that is not the only objectionable practice Planned Parenthood promotes. It is also one of the largest promoters of dangerous, wrong-sex hormones in the nation. Though the organization has not disclosed exactly how many “gender-affirming” services it distributes in its national report, its regional reports shockingly show an expansion of over 40 percent in its “gender-affirming” business, according to new research from Concerned Women for America (CWA).

The research includes data from 14 regions, each spanning one to five states, and every report showed an increase. Despite some regions already doubling and even tripling these numbers in prior years, all of the regions that consistently report this data expanded.

Anyone who lives within 50 miles of a Planned Parenthood knows the organization runs the “pride” show. It celebrates sex and gender dysphoria every chance it gets, but ironically, it is not so prideful when it comes to the profits it makes off the ideology. This vast expansion is all happening despite an international reversal on ideology.

The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (“WPATH files”) scandal blew the lid open on this faux “gender-affirming care,” linking the research that medical professionals relied on to widespread malpractice, especially on children. Additionally, recent news has been flooded with an international walkback on prescribing hormone medication to gender-dysphoric youth.

But most damning, research affirms that Gen Z is moving away from sexual identification.

The summary from a University of Buckingham study suggests: The transgender share among university students peaked in 2023 and has almost halved since, from nearly 7 percent to under 4 percent. The share of students identifying as not heterosexual fell by around 10 points in the same period.

A survey by the Andover Phillips Academy in Boston showed that in 2023, about 9 percent of students identified as a gender other than male or female. In 2025, it dropped to about 3 percent. At Brown University, 5 percent of students identified as non-binary in 2022 and 2023, but now just 2.6 percent in 2025.

Planned Parenthood does not provide clear guidance to these individuals who may consider reversing transgender medical interventions. Its resources mention that hormone use should be “long-term," but lack instructions for stopping. Although it offers videos, website information, and other materials to help initiate hormone therapy, its only advice for those wanting to discontinue is to “talk to your care provider.”

The abortion giant seems to have the hormone business locked down as a supplemental boost to its economic model. An abortion is a one-time procedure, but patients coming for so-called “gender affirming care” are potential patients for life. It is no surprise that, despite trans-identities seemingly decreasing, Planned Parenthood’s distribution is on the rise.

But its lack of transparency with this data shows it knows the American taxpayers are not with the organization.

Though defunding these medical interventions has been a hallmark talking point for Republicans in recent years, surveys last year suggested that 43 percent of people who voted for former Vice President Kamala Harris in the '24 elections also oppose taxpayer funding for gender transition procedures.

Over the year of this expansion, Planned Parenthood received over $800,000,000 from taxpayers. However, that funding was cut in the Big Beautiful Bill, for a while. It is now set to resume on July 4. In tandem with the international trend, the American people do not affirm this experimental, often predatory business model of giving hormones to vulnerable individuals. And they surely do not want to foot the bill.

So Planned Parenthood keeps its skeletons in the closet, hiding how it actually stewards American dollars. But this 40 percent expansion is difficult to ignore and hardly suggests a need to resume its dive into taxpayer pockets.

President Trump and the Republicans in Congress have been no friend to those dealing these drugs to kids, and taxpayers are eager to see their tax dollars diverted away from the nation’s peddlers this summer.
