This week, normal, logically thinking Americans watched in horror as Democrats bent over backward to defend illegal alien Kilmar Abrego Garcia – who was deported to El Salvador by the Trump administration three weeks ago. They've done everything from portraying him as a "Maryland man" and "father," while holding him up as a victim in their attempts to bring him back into the United States.
Maryland Democrat Senator Chris Van Hollen took things a step further by flying to El Salvador and demanding to visit Garcia in prison. Instead, he got a meeting at a cafe — complete with margaritas and cold water.
"I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return," Van Hollen proudly posted on X. "I've been in El Salvador all day fighting for the return of Mr. Abrego Garcia.”
This behavior is astonishing given Garcia's long criminal record, extensively documented by local law enforcement and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, of illegal entry into the U.S., wife beating, MS-13 membership, affiliation with murderers and suspected human trafficking. Not to mention the first hand account of abuse from his wife.
"I have multiples photos/videos of how violent he can be and all the bruises he has left me," his wife wrote in a petition for a protective order against Garcia in 2021.

Further, new information released by the Department of Justice shows Garcia was arrested alongside two other men, one of which was arrested as part of a murder investigation, and was identified as an MS-13 gang member.
"Abrego-Garcia was validated as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS13) Gang," documents from DHS state.
And while Van Hollen has the time, energy and will to fight for "Maryland man" Garcia, he ignores his American constituents permanently impacted by his deranged position.
"Why are we not protecting the American citizens? It's just common sense, why are we not protecting our children," Patty Morin, whose daughter Rachel Morin was murdered, raped and mutilated by an illegal alien from El Salvador in Maryland, told stunned reporters at the White House. "To have a senator from Maryland who didn't even acknowledge or barely acknowledge my daughter and the brutal death that she endured, leaving her five children without a mother and now a grandbaby without a grandmother, so that he can use my taxpayer money to fly to El Salvador to bring back someone that's not even an American citizen…Why does that person have more right than I do? Or my daughter or my grandchildren? I don't understand this.”
There are very few explanations for this insane, anti-American behavior, but let's try.
After losing their working class and minority coalition of citizen voters to Trump, Democrats have been desperately grasping at all straws to keep from drowning. Their solution, it appears, is to embrace their new constituency of illegal aliens, 15 million of whom Biden let into the country with the goal of eventually turning them into voters for permanent Democrat control.
So far, this strategy is backfiring. Americans are onboard with Trump's mass deportation policies. In fact, CNN polling shows 53 percent of Americans support deporting all illegal aliens. No doubt that includes "Maryland fathers" like Garcia.
Democrats once again are proving their disdain for real Americans, with Van Hollen leading the way. It could keep them out of majority power for many election cycles to come.
