Jaime Florez is the Hispanic Communications Director for the Republican National Committee (RNC). He worked for Senator Rick Scott as Hispanic Communications Director in his campaigns for reelection as Governor of Florida and for the U.S. Senate. Jaime was the Communications Director of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation and the Governor’s Regional Representative in the six southernmost counties of the state. He was the Publisher of Sobre Ruedas, the magazine in Spanish with the largest circulation in the world, and he served as Anchor and News Director at Actualidad 1020, Radio Caracol and WQBA 1140 AM, the three most popular Hispanic news radio stations in South Florida.
Jaime has worked in print and broadcast media for more than three decades, holding many different positions in both Colombia and the United States. He has written hundreds of articles, columns and commentaries for dozens of newspapers, magazines and websites. Frequently appears in high audience TV shows where he’s called as a contributor, and his highly appreciated comments can go from Latin American and U.S. politics to cars and the automotive industry, matters that he knows deeply and understands very well.
Jaime’s work has garnered him several awards, among them “Premio Nacional de Periodismo Simón Bolívar” (The Simon Bolivar National Award for Journalism), the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a journalist in Colombia. Over the span of several decades, he has traveled across the world covering breaking news stories.
