It’s A Woke-Off

There are few things as enjoyable to me as a fight among liberals; a woke-off, if you will. Most woke-offs involve groups or people I’ve never heard arguing with other groups or people I’ve never heard of over something I couldn’t care less about, yet it’s still fun to watch the people who weaponized victimhood use it against their own.

Democrat New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has made this an art form, wrapping herself in “I’m a minority woman” every time anyone, including her fellow Democrats, say anything close to a critical word about her. It allows her to avoid answering even basic questions or responding to legitimate concerns. You can say she’s dumb, and on the substance of issues she is fully marinated in proud ignorance, but when it comes to the coin of the realm on the left – victimhood – AOC is what Elon Musk is to cryptocurrency.

But it’s not just millennials who engage in woke-offs, and they don’t just happen in politics. Anywhere leftists have infiltrated, no matter their age, you can count on some liberal trying to use an imagined victim status to their advantage

An example I recently saw comes from the entertainment industry, and it is one of my favorites.

If you’ve never heard of a show called “Pose,” you are not alone. The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) describes the show as “In the New York of the late 80s and early 90s, this is a story of ball culture and the gay and trans community, the raging AIDS crisis and capitalism.” It sounds boring, to me at least. I’d seen commercials for it, but never paid close enough attention to them to get any sense of the show.

Then I saw this headline on the New York Post, “Janet Mock admits to infidelity, blasts industry in fiery ‘Pose’ premiere speech,” and was curious enough to see what someone in Hollywood was saying about the industry to click it. From there, I went down a rabbit hole of woke that amused me to no end.

I’d never heard of Janet Mock before, but soon found out more than I could ever want to know.

Mock is transgender and a producer/writer who worked on the show. Her IMDb page lists nothing impressive. Yet, Mock took the opportunity of the premiere party for Pose to not only admit publicly to infidelity, but to also complain about being undervalued and underpaid.

Whining about money is nothing new in Hollywood or for leftists. But at a time when millions of people are out of work because of government imposed restrictions due to the pandemic, imagine whining about make “only” $40,000 per episode for a television show most people haven’t heard of and very few people watch. There are apparently 7 episodes in this season, which means Mock was paid $280,000 for a few months of work. Who complains about that?

“Why am I making $40,000 a motherf***ing episode? Huh? Do you know who the f*** I am? Do you know what I f***ing mean? Huh? I am angry. This is truth. This is mother***ing truth,” Mock told the crowd. The arrogance and sense of entitlement is everything the left has become.

“All of you have stomped us,” Mock continued, playing the trans card. But at least one of the people against whom Mock was playing the trans card is executive producer and show co-creator, Hollywood super-producer Ryan Murphy, who is gay.

I love it when the woke go after the woke. Everyone involved is a left-wing Hollywood elitist making more money than they know what to do with for work that isn’t exactly breaking rocks. They made a show because of the topic, it lasted 3 seasons because of its left-wing politics, and they still spend their time playing the victim card…against each other.

Victimhood is the left’s default position, their go-to. In many ways, it’s their air – without it, they could not exist. That they’re so quick to deploy it against each other is an opening for sane people everywhere. It’s the key to dividing them.

The left has become so conditioned to be hyper-sensitive on every issue, to crave something to find offense over, that all we have to do is highlight everything that falls into that category when they do it. They want to be offended, it gives liberal status. And damn near everything gives liberals offense. There are plenty of opportunities to exploit this, to highlight the offenses and let liberals do the rest of the work. If there’s going to be a bunch of woke-offs anyway, why not help?
