Anti-Social Media – THE NEW YORK TIMES

  • All the proof needed that our media have lost the script.

As we have been reporting of late, our press industry in the country has been in a state of turmoil over the ghastly murder recorded on a North Carolina commuter line. The press has been compelled to finally begin covering the story, and as they have been uniformly desperate to spin the story, they have also been on the receiving end of scorn. It is for this reason that the fact that they refuse to correct their behavior is all the more jarring.

One thing that was noted was how The New York Times had been adamant about NOT covering this killing. (For balance, the highly charged and racialized story of Daniel Penny and Jordan Neely’s death has 100 entries at The Times.)

Well, the paper of record has finally gotten around to covering the Carolina homicide, and despite all of the negative pushback to prior media coverage, the outlet was just as disgraceful as the previous reports, if not more so. Just looking at the headline and the sub-header, we are presented with numerous problems with the approach, serving as another sign of how bankrupt the press industry in this country has become.

Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – CNN

  • Remember when Abby Phillip said her conservative guests needed guardrails on her panels?!

Van Jones has another deeply disturbing approach to this matter, as he actually states there is cause to look at the killer sympathetically. “This man was hurting,” says Jones, and claims the reason for this killing was that there was no means to get help, and that Charlie Kirk was the only person to mention race.

This man has been arrested 14 times, and the system perpetually turned him back out into the community. His own mother pleaded to keep him secured or be institutionalized. And no, Kirk was not the one to introduce race; the murderer did as he walked away from the attack, saying, “I got that white girl.”

Jones should be shamed off the airwaves.

Prose & Contradiction – MINNESOTA STAR TRIBUNE

  • Hold on, the one who created the economic conditions flees those same conditions?!

The Minnesota Star Tribune is a backer of Tim Walz and the Democrats and is very pro-union in its coverage. The paper is published by a former Tim Walz economic cabinet official. It is now making union workers unemployed and taking its printing operation to Iowa for favorable taxes and lower-wage right-to-work employment conditions. This is beyond parody.

Gilded Reframe – CNN

  • If things are so oppressive, how did they get in there?!

Last night, President Trump visited a D.C. restaurant with many administration figures as a sign of how safe the district has become and to support local eateries. Upon his arrival, there was a group of protesters who stationed themselves near their table and began chanting about the takeover in D.C. and – of course – Palestine.

In reporting on this and providing video, Samantha Waldenberg tips her biased hand by not questioning how the protest was staged inside the restaurant, and does not note how the claim of authoritarianism and calling Trump “Hitler” is countered by their not being hauled off to a camp. Also, Samantha claims they approached Trump’s table when we clearly see that they were camped out by his table ahead of time, and Trump approaches them, completely unbothered by their neutered display, before they were marched out of the establishment.

Hardest-Hitting News – THE NEW YORK TIMES

  • Was there a call to fire ONLY the black female employees?

On the topic of government layoffs, the paper takes the cliché approach of noting that black women have been especially impacted by the job cuts. As predictable as this reaction is, what they fail to note is that what has been taking place under President Trump is widespread staff cuts and/or agency closures. These are not targeted firings.

Put another way, if black females are uniquely impacted, it is only because black females have been uniquely benefiting from favorable hiring practices.
