During the Biden administration, inflation hit working Hispanic families hard, the cost of living spiraled out of control, and concerns about our children’s future grew. Now, one year into the second Trump administration, families are feeling real economic relief and renewed security.
That’s promises made, promises kept.
Under policies of the past administration, inflation crushed Hispanic families, peaking at 9.1 percent in June 2022, the worst in four decades. That meant smaller grocery carts, delayed dreams of homeownership, and parents forced to choose between necessities. Today, inflation has been brought down to an average of 2.7 percent. For Hispanic workers who earn every dollar through long hours and sacrifice, that relief means more food on the table and more stability at home.
But President Trump didn’t just promise lower costs – he delivered. Average gas prices have fallen to $2.79 per gallon nationally – the first time since February 2021. Prices are now less than $3.00 per gallon in more than 40 states and even below $2.00 in some. Compare that to when gas reached the highest national average on record of $5.01 in 2022. For families commuting to work, school and church, that difference matters.
Homeownership, a cornerstone of the American Dream, is also moving in the right direction. Mortgage rates, which soared to nearly 8 percent during the Biden Administration, have dropped more than 1 percent in the last year alone – falling below 6 percent for the first time in years. That improvement is opening the door for more Hispanics to pursue their dream of owning a home, a dream many were priced out of just a year ago. President Trump promised to bring rates down, and in just one year, he’s already delivered impactful progress.

Then there’s pay – the reward for our hard work. The One Big Beautiful Bill delivered the largest tax cut in history and will boost take-home pay for hardworking families across the nation by thousands. In states with large Hispanic populations like California, Texas, Florida, and New York, a typical family of four will see real take-home pay increases ranging from $7,000 to more than $12,000.
Policies like No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime, and deductions for car loan interest mean workers will keep more of what they earn.
That’s affordability.
Now, affordability means little without safety, especially for Hispanic parents. And on that front, the results are just as clear. Since January 20, 2025, ICE arrested more than 7,000 illegal immigrant gang members, including members of MS-13, Tren de Aragua, and Latin Kings. More than one million pounds of drugs have been seized, and fentanyl trafficking at the southern border towards the end of 2025 had been cut in half compared to the same period in 2024. Fewer drugs in our neighborhoods mean fewer funerals, fewer broken families, and safer streets for our children. That’s America First.
There is still work to be done. But after years of record inflation and rising crime in our neighborhoods, Hispanic families are finally able to catch their breath.
That’s what leadership looks like. And one year in, it’s exactly what Hispanic voters were promised – and are now getting.
