Vice President Kamala Harris, utterly devoid of the skills necessary to serve in her office, has proven to be incapable of resolving the catastrophe on our southern border. Since she obviously needs instruction about the issue, here is a tutorial.
Shortly after being appointed by our clueless Commander-in-Chief, Harris took a wrong turn from Washington, D.C. and visited the northern border. Ooops!! The crisis is at the southern border, you know, where California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas meet with our Mexican neighbor.
Like all Democrats, Harris believes that throwing more money at the crisis will resolve the problem. Giving more money to Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador will not solve the problem. Reinstituting the agreements, the U.S. negotiated with those nations under President Trump, will go a long way to resolving the humanitarian chaos on our southern border.
In fact, giving hundreds of millions of dollars to the Northern Triangle states is not going to measurably slow the mass of humanity crossing our border.
Last week, I observed two groups, consisting of several ostensible family units, surrender to the Border Patrol. One group of ten consisted entirely of Romanian nationals. Another group was comprised of Russians, Cubans, and more Romanians.
In the Yuma sector, most people that are apprehended are from Brazil. In fact, this year Yuma has already encountered individuals from more than 60 different countries. That is consistent with what has been reported to me from every other sector along the border.
Kamala Harris might have learned these important facts, and many more, if she had the intellectual curiosity to wander on down to the border. She has her own plane now, so it shouldn’t be that hard.
She could visit from McAllen to San Diego and get the scoop from farmers, ranchers, sheriffs, businesses, elected officials, Border Patrol Agents, Customs Officers, and the millions of people affected by the open border she seems to support.
She could visit the new soft-sided facilities near Yuma and Tucson built for tens of millions of dollars—not to prevent illegal aliens from crossing into the United States, but for the purpose of facilitating the process to release them into the United States.
She just might learn that there isn’t anyone or anything that crosses the southern border without permission from the transnational criminal organizations that we know as cartels. These ruthless criminals demand payment from even commercial truckers carrying produce or other freight to the U.S.
Parents regularly turn their children over to the cartels to be smuggled into the country. Children are abused by their traffickers and their fellow travelers.
Here are some remedies Vice President Harris might learn about if she ever condescends to visit our border to gain first-hand knowledge. First, the President and Vice President need to tell the world to quit coming to the United States illegally. Tell illegal aliens that they will be promptly returned to their native country.
Reinstitute the Migrant Protection Protocols, otherwise known as the Remain in Mexico Policy, and the agreements with the Northern Triangle states which proved to be so successful under President Trump.
Finish the wall.
Remove incentives such as free healthcare, education, and the federal subsidy from the Biden COVID bill that serves as a reward for illegally immigrating.
Move immigration judges to the border to handle the plethora of new asylum claims from people illegally entering the country between the ports of entry. Almost all of those applications are bogus, and we can dispatch of those claims and remove those people quickly. For the time being, forget about the hundreds of thousands of asylum petitioners wandering around the interior of the country and focus on the new asylum claims.
Harris has proven that she doesn’t know what she is doing regarding the border crisis. I hope she reads this and implements what she has learned.
