Because the name Muhammed has so many different variations in spelling, it only ranks second in a list of boy names compiled by the British news organization Mirror.
This concurs with an alternate report done in September that found there were 7,361 children born last year called Mohammed, Muhammed, Mohammad or Mohamed, according to the Office for National Statistics. Oliver officially came in first with 6,941 children given that name.
The Pew Research Center found that by the end of the century, Muslims could outnumber Christians for the first time in history.
"Another way of thinking about it is Christianity had a seven-century head-start on Islam, and Islam is finally catching up," says Alan Cooperman, the director of religion research at Pew.
