Michelle Obama Joins Snapchat

The first lady has joined Snapchat, and will be posting snaps under the handle "MichelleObama." Snapchat is an app that allows users to send a self-destructing picture to another user, or post a picture to their "story" for a full 24 hours. Mrs. Obama is joining Snapchat ahead of her travels overseas for the Let Girls Learn initiative.

The Let Girls Learn initiative seeks to provide more educational opportunities for girls across the globe.

Other political figures, such as Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, are also avid Snapchat users. An awkward snap video of Clinton saying she was "chilling in Cedar Rapids" went viral during the lead-up to the Iowa caucus.
