Fox Poll: Obama Approval Continues to Slide

The latest numbers from Fox News / Opinion Dynamics are pretty grisly for the president.

Q: Do you approve or disapprove of the job Barack Obama's is doing as president?

Approve - 40 percent
Disapprove - 51 percent

(These figures include 10 percent / 37 percent / 75 percent approval among Republicans, Independents, and Democrats, respectively).

Q: As of today, do you believe President Obama will be re-elected president in 2012, or not?

Yes - 29 pecent
No -  64 percent

Barely hovering above the 30s is not a happy place to be for any politician, but the public's intuition on the second question is a little tough to square with fresh WSJ/NBC polling data showing Obama narrowly (if you make up for the unreasonable sampling skew) beating Mitt Romney in a hypothetical 2012 match-up.

What about Obama vs. Palin, you ask?  Don't ask.  For what it's worth, Palin has recently added electability to her list of criteria for a potential White House run.
