Terry McAuliffe: A ‘Brick Wall’ Against Women’s Health

During Thursday’s third and final Virginia gubernatorial debate at Virginia Tech, Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe once again pledged to never compromise on the issue of abortion.

His pro-choice vow comes after revelations that an abortion clinic in Falls Church, VA was rife with safety violations. Mollie Hemingway, writing in The Federalist, provides the horrific details of the clinic in question. Hemingway reports that the facility was found to be “blood-splattered” and “failing to comply with even basic sterilization procedures.” Other disturbing findings included reused vacutainer holders, blood stained operating tables, and no policy for reporting patient deaths. In the span of three months, the facility even sent two women to the hospital due to botched abortions.

In light of these shocking discoveries and McAuliffe’s most recent comments, Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the pro-life organization Susan B. Anthony List, shared her concern for women in Virginia who may soon have to call McAuliffe their governor.

Terry McAuliffe says he won’t compromise – but what that really means is he won’t stand up for women’s health. McAuliffe’s refusal to support needed abortion facility health and safety standards shows his unyielding loyalty to the abortion industry.

McAuliffe is so determined to keep these dangerous abortion clinics open that he pledged to be a “brick wall” against any regulations and is even inventing his own legality. In what he calls a “guidance opinion,” the Democrat is hoping to exempt existing abortion clinics from having to comply with the health and safety standards approved by the General Assembly and the Virginia Board of Health.

In McAuliffe’s world, he makes the rules. In Virginia, those rules would spell danger for women’s health.
