Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) isn’t mincing words when it comes to Democrats’ latest obsession after the GOP firebrand turned an old Cold War-era island facility surrounding a swamp into “Alligator Alcatraz," a place he can hold illegal immigrants until they are deported. While the left claims the facility is putting the illegal aliens into “inhumane conditions,” DeSantis is putting common sense and border security first and reminding critics that Florida won’t play along with D.C.'s sanctuary city fantasies or open-border chaos.
During a press conference, DeSantis criticized Democrats for never showing up to support the families of victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants. He accused them of ignoring these victims and their stories, and called their recent actions political stunts driven by their waning influence in the state.
"I've never seen one of you show up to comfort an angel mom who's lost a child because of illegal alien crime. I've never seen you raise any concern about the victims of illegal immigration. Not one time have I seen these Democrats caravan anywhere in this state, hold a press conference, to be able to stand in solidarity with victims. I've never seen that! These are stunts they're pulling because they're increasingly politically irrelevant in this state," the governor told reporters.

Democrats have painted a false picture of Alligator Alcatraz, claiming it is a cruel, inhumane prison for illegal immigrants. They have accused DeSantis of being heartless and using so-called "vulnerable" people as political pawns. However, what they conveniently ignore is that the detention center is about restoring order and enforcing the law at America's borders. The left's outrage is just another predictable left-wing attempt to block common-sense immigration policies while ignoring the real victims of illegal immigration. Meanwhile, DeSantis is focused on protecting Floridians and sending a clear message that lawlessness won’t be tolerated.
