Democrat Governor Weighs in on Illegal Immigrants Who Assaulted NYPD Cops

Anger over the group of illegal immigrants who assaulted two NYPD officers over the weekend has not just come from the political Right. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who was asked to comment on the incident, said deportation should be considered.

“I think that’s actually something that should be looked at,” Hochul told a reporter Wednesday, according to the New York Post

“I mean, if someone commits a crime against a police officer in the state of New York and they’re not here legally, it’s definitely worth checking into,” she continued.

“These are law enforcement officers who should never under any circumstances be subjected to physical assault,” the Democrat added. “It’s wrong on all accounts and I’m looking to judges and prosecutors to do the right thing.”

A dozen illegal border crossers took part in the Saturday attack, according to CBS New York. NYPD arrested six of the individuals, but five were released without bail. Police are still searching for the others, though four have reportedly left the state already.

On Thursday, Hochul sharpened her tone.

“Get them all and send them back,” Hochul said.

“You don’t touch our police officers. You don’t touch anyone,” she added.

Outrage grew when one of the attackers was shown giving the finger to media upon his release.

Hochul's reaction highlights the growing discontent among Democrats over the border crisis, with many cities, including the Big Apple, struggling to assist the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants now in their care. Mayor Eric Adams has also been blunt about its impact: "This issue will destroy New York City."
