'Predicated on Lies': Massie Tears Apart Healthcare Vaccine Mandate

'Predicated on Lies': Massie Tears Apart Healthcare Vaccine Mandate

President Biden’s vaccine mandates, which attempted to force the COVID vaccine on nearly every American, have largely crumbled under the weight of legal challenges and, most recently, in the National Defense Authorization Act, which rescinds it for the military. But the mandate for healthcare workers remains—and a bipartisan group of lawmakers wants to see that changed.

On Tuesday, House members voted on two pandemic measures, including the Freedom for Health Care Workers Act, which passed 227-203 thanks to seven Democrats joining Republicans. The bill would stop Health and Human Services from enforcing the pandemic-era regulations, including the vaccine mandate, at Medicare and Medicaid-certified healthcare facilities.

With Democrats in control of the Senate, unfortunately the vote was mostly symbolic.

Still, during debates about the measures, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) delivered a speech exposing how the mandate was “predicated on lies” that’s well worth hearing.

Massie said the “first lie is that the vaccine prevents spread.” The second lie, he argued, is that they “don’t cause any harm.” He went on to cite the CDC’s website, which says the vaccines could, in some “rare” cases, cause pericarditis, myocarditis, blood clots, and even death. The third lie, he notes, is that the mandate is “scientific, that it makes sense.” He said due to the evolving nature of the virus, the original two shots are no longer effective. The fourth lie the mandate is predicated on, he added, ignores natural immunity.

“This is the epitome of hypocrisy,” he said. “Nobody in this room was mandated to take a vaccine, and we’re voting on whether we’re going to force people who want to take care of people, whether they have to take the vaccine. End the hypocrisy. None of us were mandated. None of the staff in this room were mandated to take a vaccine. End it now!”
