President Trump put Kim Jong Un in his place Tuesday night after the North Korean dictator taunted the U.S. with another nuclear threat on New Year’s Day.
“North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!” Trump tweeted.
The comment comes after Kim’s televised New Year’s Day address in which he said, “The entire United States is within range of our nuclear weapons, a nuclear button is always on my desk. This is reality, not a threat.”
He added: “This year, we should focus on mass-producing nuclear warheads and ballistic missiles for operational deployment. These weapons will be used only if our society is threatened.”
The Pentagon anticipated North Korea was gearing up for another intercontinental ballistic missile test, but now believes those plans may be delayed after South Korea proposed talks with the North over cooperation on the Winter Olympics, FoxNews.com reports.
The move comes after Kim had suggested sending a North Korean delegation to the games during his address.
"North Korea's participation in the Winter Games will be a good opportunity to showcase the national pride and we wish the Games will be a success. Officials from the two Koreas may urgently meet to discuss the possibility," he said.
