On Monday Hamas launched a rocket from Gaza into an Israeli community north of Tel Aviv, hitting a house with a family inside. Seven people were injured, including two babies. The family dogs were killed.
Israel responded by launching a series of airstrikes on Hamas targets Monday night.
In the past decade, Hamas has turned Gaza into a base for attacking Israel.

Since then, Hamas has fired a number of additional rockets into Israeli communities bordering the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with President Trump at the White House Monday to officially declare the Golan Heights Israeli territory. He planned to cut his trip to Washington short in order to return to Israel. As more rocket fire began, he delayed his return to hold an emergency security meeting.
