Gun control activist David Hogg joined the many other prominent liberal activists who have denounced the strike President Trump ordered that killed General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of Iran's Quds Force, and Kataib Hezbollah leader Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes.

The airstrike resulted in Iran firing missiles at bases in Iraq where American troops are stationed on Tuesday. Hogg, who cofounded March For Our Lives, said on Tuesday that Trump's actions had brought the United States and Iran closer to war and it was time for a "f**king big" protest.

"Donald Trump needs to know the American people are watching him. We need to scare the f**k out of him and a lot of politicians with our vote and with our voice to stop this war," Hogg said.

As the Iranian strike did not kill an American or Iraqi service members, Trump said on Wednesday the U.S. will impose more economic sanctions on Iran instead of responding with more force.

"To the people and leaders of Iran: We want you to have a future and a great future, one that you deserve, one of prosperity at home, and harmony with the nations of the world. The United States is ready to embrace peace with all who seek it," Trump said.
