Ellison Wins Minnesota AG Primary Despite Domestic Abuse Reports

DNC Deputy Chair and Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) won the Democratic primary for attorney general Tuesday night despite the recent domestic abuse charges against him. Over the weekend, his former girlfriend Karen Monahan and her sons accused Ellison of physical abuse and verbal threats.

They have yet to provide evidence though and Ellison denies the claims. Right now it's his word against theirs.

Ellison beat four other contenders Tuesday, including former Ramsey County Attorney Tom Foley, state Rep. Debra Hilstrom, attorney and former state Supreme Court clerk Matt Pelikan, and former state Commissioner of Commerce Mike Rothman.

After receiving criticism for its 48-hour silence on Ellison, the DNC finally spoke to NPR Tuesday to note that they were conducting a review into the disturbing claims about him. Former DNC communications director Luis Miranda said the decision is obvious: suspend Ellison "until they figure out what's going on."

Meanwhile, the Republican Governors Association have released a statement wondering how Minnesota Democrats could vote for someone who aligns himself with extremist and pushes radical policies.

“Minnesota Democrats are going to regret this choice,” RAGA Executive Director Scott Will said. “Keith Ellison is running to be the chief law enforcement officer – to protect Minnesotans – but he does not believe in borders. It’s not just the far-left policies that Ellison champions, he also embraces the extreme elements. Ellison supports the violent left-wing group Antifa and he has lied about his relationship with anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan. Keith Ellison is the most radical and extreme politician in America; he cannot be trusted.
