Former FBI Director James Comey is testifying today before the Senate Intelligence Community. And in D.C. and around the country, people are taking the opportunity to sneak in a bit of day drinking. Several bars around D.C. opened their doors early on Thursday, and some were even offering drink specials and deals based off of the testimony.
Many of the drink specials played off of the "Covfefe" typo made by President Trump last month. Shaw Tavern even dubbed their event the "Comey Hearing Covfefe."
In a reference to Russian meddling in the 2016 election, Russian vodka was also heavily featured in many of the various drink specials. Union Pub also promised a round of drinks for every tweet about the hearing by President Trump.
