One Thing Is Hilariously Clear: 2020 Democratic Candidates Have No Idea How To Handle Mitch McConnell

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) started out okay—for a Democrat. She offered a lengthy opening remark, channeled a left-wing populism that reportedly has some Trump operatives worried, and then decided to pretty much disappear from the debate stage in the second hour. In all, for a candidate that some in Trump world think will lead the herd by fall, this should give them some relief. It’s not going to happen. She prevaricated on gun control, offering some rambling pivot into pushing for new research into gun violence. And then, came the moment where she had to outline her plan for dealing with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. It was actually a good question. The 2020 Senate elections map looks very good for Republicans. No matter who wins in 2020, and hopefully it will be Donald Trump, there will likely be a Republican Senate.

Warren has no plan. In fact, none of the clowns on the debate stage had a clue on dealing with Mitch, which is why the Kentucky Republican should be added into the list of winners of the night. As many noted on Twitter, it was something of a trainwreck. The elimination of the filibuster was floated, but that’s not happening if Mitch remains Senate Majority Leader. Warren said, “We have to push from the outside and push from the inside.” What the hell does that even mean? Not to mention, on economics, she says she differs from Sen. Bernie Sanders’ democratic socialism, but her hand shot right up when it came to backing Medicare for All, which would destroy private health insurance plans. It was a full-blown socialist powwow and her stripes were quite exposed last night for the worse. She was the total loser of the night, but she won’t get a bump and she needed to set herself apart from this clown bus. She needed to show that she had the ability to pull away. Instead, she headed into the bunker for the second half.

All I can say is that I’m sure Mitch McConnell was enjoying himself, as did President Trump. There was not a single candidate who could beat Trump last night. And the same goes for tonight as well.
