Democrats have been frothing at the mouth, outraged over the GOP health care bill that they say will lead to people dying. Guy has debunked many of the most absurd claims about the House GOP’s health care plan. He also offered his analysis for the Senate’s health care plan. The point is that the GOP is working on alternatives to Obamacare, while the Democrats just jump up and down and peddle health scare slogans. Even some members of the media are asking Democrats, where the hell is your health care plan? That’s what the Republican National Committee wants to know as well, clipping this video as a response.
We all know what they want: single-payer. Pew Research noted how a majority of Democrats are ironically pushing for a health care system that will lead to less access to certain treatments and doctors, this increase the likelihood of death for someone with a serious illness, like cancer. All you have to do is read about the United Kingdom and Sweden to see how their health care system fares when it comes to the treatment of serious illnesses. On average, hospital death rates are 45 percent higher in the UK than in the United States.
Second, to implement universal coverage would mean to raise taxes in exchange for less health care access and therefore a reduction in the quality of care. That’s the only way to ensure coverage and keep costs down. Oh, and did we mention the price tag? The Washington Post sure did; it’s astronomical. The Tax Policy Center, a joint project of the Urban and Brookings Institute, noted in a report that a single-payer system, like the one Bernie Sanders advocated for during the 2016 Democratic primaries, would cost $32 trillion over the next 10 years. Sure, it’s becoming a war drum for the Left, but as soon as the economic impacts are laid out, the loss of choice and options, and the increase in taxation for everyone—moderates and independents will bail. I wonder what the CBO score would be for single-payer. My guess would be a tsunami of spending that will drown the U.S. taxpayer in debt if the shoddy care doesn’t kill them first.
