Trump's Friday Morning Tweetstorm: Iran, Jobs, Schwarzenegger, Fake News, Anarchists, and Terrorism

President Donald Trump had a lot to say on Twitter Friday morning, and about a wide range of subjects.

"Yes, Arnold Schwarzenegger did a really bad job as Governor of California and even worse on the Apprentice...but at least he tried hard!"

Starting off with a tweet about Arnold Schwarzenegger, Trump continued shots the two took at each other on Thursday, which started when he was introduced at the National Prayer Breakfast by “The Apprentice” creator and producer Mark Burnett. While noting Burnett was “a special, special friend,” he went on to knock the show’s ratings since Schwarzenegger took over.

“They hired a big, big movie star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, to take my place, and we know how that turned out,” Trump said. “The ratings went right down the tubes. It's been a total disaster. And Mark will never, ever bet against Trump again, and I want to just pray for Arnold, if we can, for those ratings, OK?”

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said the swipe against Schwarzenegger was “a lighthearted moment,” but that didn’t stop the former California governor from responding in kind. Schwarzenegger suggested on Twitter that the two switch jobs “because you’re such an expert in ratings.” He said he'd take over the presidency so that “people can finally sleep comfortably again.”

"Iran is playing with fire - they don't appreciate how 'kind' President Obama was to them. Not me!"

This tweet was in reference to the White House planning a new round of sanctions against several Iranian entities after the country conducted a ballistic missile test. While Iran said the test did not violate the nuclear deal, Trump’s national security adviser Michael Flynn said the administration was putting Iran “on notice” over its “destabilizing activity.”

"Thank you to Prime Minister of Australia for telling the truth about our very civil conversation that FAKE NEWS media lied about. Very nice!"

Both leaders have sought to downplay a phone call that was reportedly quite contentious. The issue at hand was a deal brokered between Canberra and the Obama administration to resettle 1,250 asylum seekers from Australian-run detention centers, which Trump called a “dumb deal” on Twitter. Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull later said it was a “frank discussion” but one that ended “courteously”—in other words, Trump didn’t hang up on him as has been reported.

“Meeting with biggest business leaders this morning. Good jobs are coming back to U.S., health care and tax bills are being crafted NOW!”

Trump tweeted about his schedule today.

“Professional anarchists, thugs and paid protesters are proving the point of the millions of people who voted to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

The president is responding to continuing protests across the country.

“A new radical Islamic terrorist has just attacked in Louvre Museum in Paris. Tourists were locked down. France on edge again. GET SMART U.S.”

Another suspected terror attack Friday morning, this time out of France. A machete-wielding man reportedly shouted “Allahu akbar" as he attacked French soldiers on duty near the Louvre Museum. After trying to first fight off the attacker, one of the soldiers opened fire, shooting him five times.
