Dem Congressman Brags About Getting Free Food in Restaurants Due to His Immigration Stance

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) had a unique take Monday in light of Trump administration officials facing harassment from protestors in restaurants and other public places over President Trump's immigration policies. Lieu bragged on Twitter that he actually gets free food at restaurants, attributing it to his immigration stance.

There has been a debate recently about the civility of heckling Trump administration officials in public after protestors disrupted Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s dinner and White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked to leave a restaurant in Lexington, Virginia because she worked for Trump.

Most recently Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was heckled over immigration by protestors shouting to “abolish ICE” and calling him a “turtle head.”

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) told her supporters last month at a rally that "if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd, and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere."

However, she later clarified that she was not calling for harm to Trump officials with her remarks.
