Republican Super PAC Wants Candidates To Target Hillary, Not Each Other

With all the insults and attacks between GOP presidential frontrunners Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, you’d be forgiven if you forgot Hillary Clinton was their real competitor. The nasty back and forth between the Republican candidates in the 2016 race is missing the mark, the Republican Super PAC American Crossroads argues in a new ad. Instead of beating up each other, the PAC pleads, Republicans should save some of that ammunition for the presumptive Democratic nominee.

“With a resume filled with scandals and unethical behavior, Hillary Clinton is the one candidate unfit to be president of a condo association, never mind the United States. Because of that, it is important for everyone to consider what would happen if Hillary reached the Oval Office and then focus on making sure that never happens,” said Ian Prior, the communications director for Crossroads.

The ad substitutes the #NeverTrump hashtag for #NeverHillary and reminds viewers of her long list of scandals that make her unfit for the White House. For instance, the spot references her failures as secretary of state, including her incompetence during the Benghazi terror attack and her email controversy that put our national security at risk. These issues, the PAC suggests, are more important than the Republicans' petty spat over their wives.

Other leading figures in the GOP have also seemingly forgotten who the real target is in the 2016 election. Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who we haven’t heard from for the better part of the last four years, suddenly showed up to denounce Donald Trump – just a few words were saved for Clinton.

While the GOP spends time denouncing the frontrunner, and Trump and Cruz waste energy over their personal feud, Clinton is shielded from having to defend her scandal-filled history.
