CNN is reporting that Chairman Nadler is prepared to hold subpoena Barr to testify. If he refuses to testify and/or provide the full Mueller report, the Committee will hold him in content.
Nadler just said the administration will NOT comply with his demands to get the full Mueller report; says negotiations will go on for 1-2 days before next steps. Then he says they will move to hold Barr in contempt if he doesn’t comply. “He’s trying to blackmail the committee.” https://t.co/QrajysHOtg— Manu Raju (@mkraju) May 1, 2019
He said the reason he believes Barr refuses to show up before the Committee is because he's "terrified of having to face a skilled attorney."
During his press conference, Nadler said the Committee will convene at 9 a.m. EST and hopes Barr will make an appearance.
"The Committee will convene at 9:00 tomorrow morning as planned. My colleagues will be present. I hope and expect that the attorney general will think overnight and will be there as well," Nadler told reporters on Wednesday.
Attorney General William Barr has decided to skip a House Judiciary Committee hearing scheduled for Thursday morning, CNN reported.
Barr previously told Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler he would not testify before the Committee if both party's lawyers wanted to question him.
In the originally proposed format, Nadler wanted each member of the Committee to have five minutes each to ask Barr whatever questions they saw fit in relation to the redacted areas of the Mueller report. The second round of questioning would include 30 minutes from each parties' Committee counselors.
