This one hurts. As a horror movie fan, it’s going to hurt when Bruce Campbell passes away. The actor has had a prolific career, making his name for starring in the Evil Dead franchise directed by Sam Raimi. Earlier this year, he announced he was suffering from a major health issue. His statement was vague. Now, he’s revealed more about his illness, and it’s tragic.

He has cancer, though he wouldn’t disclose which kind. What he did say is that it’s treatable, but not curable, and he’ll be dead in about five years (via NBC News):

Actor Bruce Campbell said he has five years to live amid treatment for cancer.

Speaking on an episode of “The Adam Carolla Show” released Thursday, the actor — best known for his roles in “The Evil Dead” horror franchise — said he has “give or take” five years left.

“I’ve decided though, pretty specifically, to live with it, not die from it,” he said. “The cancer rabbit hole is enormous. You can go into focus groups of 10,000 guys who have exactly what you have. I won’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.”

If you haven’t seen Campbell killing ‘deadites,’ you might have seen him play ‘Sam Axe’ on USA Network’s Burn Notice. He also reprised his Ash character for Starz’s Ash vs. Evil Dead.

Thanks for the memories, Mr. Campbell.
