Actress Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli recently pleaded not guilty to their role in the college admissions cheating scandal. Loughlin is now demanding that prosecutors show them the "voluminous evidence" against them. Until they do, their lawyers have requested to suspend all motions in the case ahead of the next hearing on June 3.
To many, that evidence already exists. Loughlin was found to have dished out $500,000 in bribes to get her two daughters into the University of Southern California. They posed as crew recruits although they did not row. When Loughlin and Giannulli refused a plea bargain, they were then indicted on fraud and money laundering charges, along with 14 other parents. Those charges could come with dozens of years behind bars. The "Fuller House" star was also written off the latest season of the Netflix show, and lost her roles at the Hallmark Channel.
Loughlin's fellow actress Felicity Huffman has responded to her own charges much differently. The "Desperate Housewives" star was exposed in the college scandal as having bribed a school to get her daughter help on her SATs. Unlike Loughlin, she pleaded guilty and apologized for her actions.
Even the coach who created fake profile pages for Loughlin's daughters has pleaded guilty. Loughlin, instead, has showed up to court smiling, posing for photos and signing autographs.
No wonder the folks at "Saturday Night Live" roasted Loughlin last weekend in a brutal skit about her behavior, but left Huffman alone.
