The Progressive Leftist Rot Goes All the Way Down to Local Politics

The assassination of Charlie Kirk is one of those moments in history that really exposes the divide in the country: on one side are the people who do not support the idea of murdering individuals for their political beliefs and on the other side are Democrats. While there is some crossover, the basics of that statement hold true. So, when someone is murdered for their beliefs it can be a confusing time for everyone, but especially kids.

That’s where a friend of mine comes in. I asked my podcast listeners for their thoughts on the Kirk killing and my friend’s stood out. His was framed in the school system in Anne Arundel County, Maryland—one which doesn’t seem to care about parental concerns (if they come from conservatives), but were all in on a junkie who died of an overdose because “social justice,” or something.

My friend wrote me:

"I’ve had three or four of those very surprising with people who I thought I knew pretty well. But the biggest shock I’ve had, and I probably shouldn’t be surprised by this, is that our public schools here in Anne Arundel County have been completely silent.

"I thought it would be valuable to send the superintendent, Mark Bedell, a message Thursday morning suggesting a statement come from him or the board that might help address, or at least try to quell the anger and political violence. He had done something similar five years ago when he was superintendent of the Kansas City schools after George Floyd’s death. And our previous superintendent had done the same here in Annapolis that year, so the precedent was there. And clearly there are many students and parents who have been affected by Charlie's assassination.

"They haven’t made a single statement yet as of Sunday afternoon, yet have not stopped posting on their Facebook page including on Thursday, which of course was September 11, a video that day from the superintendent, which made no reference to 9/11, much less the assassination, and was merely the superintendent, laughing and backslapping with a teacher of the year.

"I’ve continued to try and call attention to this in a civil way. With kids in the schools, obviously and knowing dozens of other parents who feel similarly, it’s important, I think, for our public institutions to address political violence like this in a responsible, adult-like way. Instead, this superintendent and this board just put their heads in the sand.

"Last thing on it, at least one teacher has been escorted off school grounds on Friday for hateful posts she’s made about Charlie’s assassination. Libs of TikTok picked that up and it caused the superintendent to send a short email to all teachers (which was only made public by someone who received it) to be careful what they post on social media, lest it distract from their teaching."

The County Executive, a guy named Steuart (his spelling, not mine) Pittman, then posted a note on the subject that opened, “The Free Speech War: Like most Americans, I was saddened by the murder of Charlie Kirk, even though to me he was a stranger. When I learned that he was a popular political activist on the right, I was even more saddened. I knew that at least some of his supporters would rise up in anger and demand revenge, just as some on the left have done when our leaders have been murdered.”

What color do you think the sky is on this guy’s planet? What political leaders on the left have been killed over politics? I know they like to cite the Speaker of the Minnesota House, but we have yet to hear a motive in that case. The killer knew her, was well-connected in state politics, and was appointed to positions by both parties. If he murdered her because of his politics, give him the chair twice. But we don’t yet know why he did it, so I’m content with him getting the chair at least once for murder.

These local Democrats are not unique, and most fly under the radar because the national Democrats are so horrible that they suck up all the attention. But don’t sleep on them – each of them will face reelection and have ambitions for higher office, the more we can knock out early or prevent from moving up, the better off we will all be.

The outrage over the assassination of Charlie Kirk is not conditional based on your politics, not if you’re a good person, anyway. That’s why it is just that for so many Democrats. Defeat them, everywhere.
