Both Kinds of Standards – VARIOUS OUTLETS

  • I was reliably told he was a puppet of the administration…?

At the close of Wednesday’s broadcast, Tony Dokoupil had a lengthy, deeply flattering sendoff for Scott Pelley. This display has many in media circles praising Tony’s gesture, which leads to confusion.

The first half of 2026 has been filled with condemnation towards Dokoupil, accusing him of being the puppet of Bari Weiss and mouthing administration-approved messaging. But he just heaped plaudits on the man who was allegedly fired at the behest of the administration, according to many of these same voices.

It is almost as if the outrage is conveniently shifted, based on how it reflects on Trump.

  • This trio left lip marks on their mirrors.

Jake Tapper felt it was a grand idea to memorialize the demise of Scott Pelley by bringing on two other disgraced journalists now plying their trades independently – Terry Moran and Scott MacFarlane. Most of the discussion was as expected: unearned praise, over-inflated importance, etc.

Scotty Mac was particularly obtuse as he tried to claim that the public trust in the media is not REALLY in the septic tank. When it comes to legitimate news sources (his definition), there is a lot of trust, unlike, as he describes, the “garbage on the internet.”

This would be where we remind that he is now working at the internet outlet Meidas Touch, the hyper-partisan source that originated from a Democrat PAC.

  • You know who else liked sports? HITLER!

There has been no shortage of consternation from the Left over the plan to have an MMA event on the White House lawn. This became displayed when CNN’s Sara Sidner interviewed Dana White, the head of the top MMA organization.

Sidner went in the most predictable direction, but with a slight creative spin. She asked White about the “confluence” of sport and politics, asking if Trump might be using it in a fashion similar to Mussolini or Putin.

Yes, she actually went there.

Legalized Press-titution – POLITICO

  • Recall when “platforming” undesirable sources was considered wrong?

Hasan Piker has been a rather polarizing individual with mixed reactions from Democrats. Some in the party are edging away from the avowed communist, while those in desperate election positions are courting the guy and his audience. Undeterred by the problems, here is Politico interviewing Piker as if he were simply an election pundit, in amazing fashion.

Reporting on the Mirror – NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO

  • Hard to tell if this is due to funding or a trend.

The announcement came out that NPR has now shuttered the climate desk. This can be chalked up to the funding being cut, but there have been other outlets cutting this type of news desk as well.
