Politico Report on Dems ‘Reclaiming’ the Stars & Stripes Is Such a Disaster They Should Wave a White Flag

Maybe this is the result of having all of that USAID subscription money cut off?

With all of the failed ploys since the election by the Democratic party to reestablish themselves with the electorate, the latest effort reported in Politico appears as just another impotent attempt. It is that, and it also is a complete indictment of the news outlet for being a sycophantic outlet for that party. Then it manages to become so much worse.

Adam Wren details how there was the attempt made to have the Democrats become bonded to the flag of the United States, and doing so on the eve of our annual Flag Day. The problems begin right from the start, with the insistence made that the party is looking to “reclaim the American flag.” That a political party sees this as something needed should raise a series of questions, but those go largely unasked, as Wren simply delivers dutiful PR for the Dems.

  • Two days ahead of Flag Day, when President Donald Trump’s military parade will run through the streets of Washington, Democratic Reps. Pat Ryan (D-N.Y.) and Chris Deluzio (D-Pa.) fanned out Thursday afternoon to give a gift to their colleagues to unite them.

Wren gives us numerous quotes from a litany of Democrats, as an example:

  • Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, plan(s) to be involved in the pushback. “Patriotism is not something the Democratic Party should concede, because patriotism is not something the Republican Party created,” Moore said in an interview.

To begin exploring aspects the uncritical reporter did not care to bring up, let’s start with timing. We have seen this party for the better part of a week defending the rioters in Los Angeles who were burning this very flag. But sure, today they adore it. Next, it is also a tough lesson to swallow from the Democrats who not long ago were enthusiastically waving the flag of another country – inside the House chamber.

We have also seen the Pride flag raised in government buildings where Democrats are in power. Last summer saw this party then attempting to cloak themselves in the flag and patriotism during the Democratic National Convention. But also seen throughout that event were frequent bold displays of the flag from Palestine. So sure, they now love the U.S. flag. But the very fact that the word “now” enters the discussion should raise – well, a red flag.

This is the same party, and the same press corps, that has shown in the past to denigrate the flying of the Stars & Stripes as a show of patriotism. Accusations of nationalism, exceptionalism, and other ill-defined charges have been frequently brought up. It is not uncommon to hear Republicans accused of aggressive jingoism and that displaying the flag is seen as a sign of exclusionary behavior.

And the press has been perfectly agreeable to forwarding this mentality.

Then, as if this dose of dutiful Democrat demagoguery was not disturbing enough, there was an editor’s note that needed to be attached as a coda to this entry. You just KNOW there had to be an editor’s meeting as a result of this level of missing the target.
