This week's Bible study is adapted from the Bible Studies for Life curriculum.
Bible Passage: Colossians 1:1-23
Discussion Question: Christ is uniquely qualified to handle every aspect of our lives. There are some day-to-day scenarios for which you would contact a professional rather than to attempt to do it yourself such as stitching an open wound or rewiring a house. What might happen if you attempted to do something for which you aren't qualified rather than relying on Christ to handle it?

Did you hear the one about the $27,000 toilet seat? A plumber relayed this story among friends, and it certainly drives home the reason that we should call a professional sometimes.
A homeowner called a plumber to come to his house to estimate some repairs The homeowner wanted to change his toilet seat but couldn't get the old one off. He tried wrenches but failed, so he resorted to his hammer and chisel. He hit the bolt with such force that he broke the toilet tank and flooded the bathroom. As the room flooded with cold water, the homeowner dropped the hammer into the tub and broke off a chunk of porcelain from the tub floor. The water continued to pour into the room and through the floor and eventually soaked the plaster of the ceiling in the room below the bathroom. After then destroying the toilet bowl, the closet flange from the floor below the bowl and some pipe from behind the wall, the homeowner was plunged into darkness when the last of the pipe plummeted through the plaster-less ceiling of the room below where it ricocheted off the television and hit the electrical panel before finally coming to rest after shearing off the water shut-off valve in the basement.
When you're seeking help with a problem in your house, call the professionals. If you're dealing with a personal issue, don't assume that you can solve the problem yourself. Call God; He can handle it.
