Billy Graham has pneumonia, 'responding well'
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (BP) -- Evangelist Billy Graham is "responding well" to antibiotic treatment for pneumonia and remains in stable condition, a doctor at his hospital said Thursday.

Graham, 93, was admitted to Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C., Wednesday (Nov. 30) and was thought to have pneumonia -- a possibility that was confirmed later. Graham was hospitalized for pneumonia in May and released after four nights.

"Mr. Graham is alert and in positive spirits, greeting hospital staff with interest and engaging them in questions about themselves," a hospital statement said. "No date has been set for his discharge."

Graham's pastor, Don Wilton of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, S.C., visited the evangelist Thursday and "led him in a time of prayer and Bible reading together" as they normally do weekly when Wilton visits Graham, the hospital statement said. Graham has received many messages from around the world.

"Mr. Graham conveyed his gratefulness for those expressions of love and concern during visits last night," the statement said, "and again this morning by his oldest daughter, Gigi, who lives in nearby Black Mountain, N.C., and has kept him informed about the thoughts and prayers being conveyed on his behalf, including those of his other children who live out of the area."
