Yeah, like our well educated (did we ever see
those transcripts & thesis of his?) Prez, who
thinks we have 57 states, and likes to bow
to foreign leaders as no other President ever
has.
That guy. Palin isn't Woodrow Wilson. Obama
isn't JFK. Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar, and
still managed to get impeached.
Good Lord, the last 8 years show us what we
get when we have a President who isn't curious
about the Washington, D.C. elite media & lawmakers - the way they want him to be.
When we have a guy who isn't concerned as much
w/his poll numbers over at MSNBC and The Post,
as he is doing the long term right thing.
Sorry, the same old line on W is boring....

I am sure conservative sites and hosts bought
many of her books. Just as many liberal, far
left hosts and sites bought Obama, Pelosi,
Olberman, Clinton books beforehand - for sales,
and for sales numbers in the news. That's not new.
However, give Sarah Palin, and her publisher
credit: the book is selling very well. That's
called capitalism. There is a reason Oprah (w/sliding ratings) and Barbara (w/similar
sliding ratings), booked her fast & early.
They got high ratings for it too.
She sells. She's a curiosity, she speaks to
many Americans. Good for her.
I like her. I hope she writes more, speaks more,
and travels the world. I hope she speaks for
fiscal & social...

DN-I'm reminded a little of when Princess Grace-- Kelly the Hollywood star, married the Prince of Monaco.
Me- You mean the stupid cow who drove her car off a cliff.
The National Anthem of Monaco. "She'll be coming around the Mountain!"
My problem with Palin isn't her vagina, it's her brain, or lack of one. Come on, this is a woman who can't name what newspapers she reads, can't name a Supreme Court decision that represents the kind of "Judicial Activism" she's against other than Roe v. Wade. She thinks there's a "Department of Law" in Washington that rejects ethics charges against the President. She apparently thinks she can see Russia from her house in Walissa...

We know Sarah would beat Obama this year, even if it's irrelevant as of today.
She hasn't even started campaigning as a candidate for any office. So; for those who even read the polls they saw yesterday, wait for the ones after an electioneering battle gets going. Why be so anxious to fight Sarah Palin now?
This point's being frequently made and then disputed by leftists; how you FEAR the lady so far in advance. You very obviously DO see her looming as a formidable candidate. Or else the subject would go away.
My gut feeling about the future is merely prompted by -->

Sarah Palin 2012!
I love the fact that this is going on, and that Sarah Palin is rock'n the house. Yeah all you leftists out there who boasted that she was through last year and when she resigned as Governor of Alaska, well I love glotting over you liberal drones and saying, "I TOLD YOU SO!" in regards that Sarah Palin was not going anywhere except to the White House. "Where, exactly, was Obama's books over those 2 years?"
Both were in the top ten, after they had been issued in paperback, for over a year.
Not sure what to make of Town Hall's coverage. I guess "Shocker" in the title is supposed to be ironic. After all, it has been impossible to escape from Sarah Palin for several weeks. She's on nearly every magazine cover and all over TV. Sure makes a lot of work for the people who write about how "persecuted" she is.

I believe you are wrong about the romance novels. . .
My shipmate, who had a book published, and working on another, used to leave stuff laying around concerning publishing and how various genre sold. I once read though the stuff while on a boring watch when no ships were in sight and nothing going on.
Best I recall, a romance novel was considered a success if it sold around 100,000 copies. If that is so, then very, very few, if any, romance novesl would ever make any major best seller list.
There is a poster on this site who claimed to have publishing knowledge. I can't recall his user name, but hope he will chime in on this because I'm certain you are wrong.

Well, things are looking up for Palin cornering the "Religious Crazy" vote in the GOP primary.
Clemmons, 37, who had a lengthy prison sentence commuted by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee nearly a decade ago, became the prime target Sunday in the search for the killer of Lakewood Police Sgt. Mark Renninger, 39; and Officers Ronald Owens, 37; Tina Griswold, 40; and Greg Richards 42.
"Clemmons has an extensive violent criminal history from Arkansas. He also recently was arrested and charged in Washington state for assaulting a police officer, and second-degree rape of a child. Using a bail bondsman, he posted $150,000 — only $15,000 of his own money — and was released from jail last week.
"In 1989, Clemmons, then...

There were a--for me--surprising number of blacks in the lines for Sarah Tuesday evening at our B & N. Almost no 20-somethings, but a good smattering of 30s, 40s, 50s & 60s ages. NO Home Boys, Hos, Rappers or such. All were just average looking, well dressed, resposible, well behaved, patient Joes & Janes like the rest of the crowds.

Romance Novels and Right Wing politic books sell to the masses for the same reason: a formula that emotional appeals.
Romance Novels are not allowed to be on the NYT bestseller list for the fact that if they were, they'd be the only thing on there.
The formula for right wing emotional pandering is simple:
Cult of personality + demagogue + liberal hater.
That pretty much sums up all the books by Ann Coulter, Michele Malkin, Glen Beck, Michael Savage, ...
It is no different than what one hears on Talk Radio.
It is just more of the same, knee-jerk emotional fulfillment.
People who buy these books, like with romance novels, know apriori what they are getting and the books always deliver...

I overheard a few Black ladies tearing into obama a few weeks ago in a local store. Their comments shocked me so that I got real nosy and listened for a tic. (I had to stop after a couple of minutes 'cause they were starting to look at me like they were wondering why I was hanging around in that aisle.)
I don't recall all that they said, but it wasn't pretty. Obama had fallen off of their A List!
Obama sucked a lot of whites into voting for him, so I can why he was able to suck the majority of Blacks to vote for him. They no doubt felt great pride in having a Black man running for president. I'd probably have felt the same were I black. Yeah, they voted for him in mass, but they ain't stupid. I suspect it is the...

A 38-42 looking black man was next to me in the line for Sarah at our B & N Tuesday night. He was equipped with a 'Boyensberry' and one of those ear implant thingies letting somebody know where in line he was. We started talking and he rather sheepishly fessed up to being there because,"my Momma told me to get down here and get her book signed."
Oh, did I everrrrrr love it.

run deep while Dems run wide. It is an axiom of American politics that good weather favors the Dems and bad weather favors the Republicans. Why? Because Reeps tend to be highly motivated, politically engaged. In fact, i would argue that with the 24/7 cable, what remains of the Republican party (given the fact that it is an evident failure to all but the deeply faithful) has gone "inside-the-beltway." and you see it in here, in the breathlessness about minute-to-minute events.
and so, when you are talking about five million here or ten million there--books sales or an opinion show audience--you can count on Reep lemmings to march to the appointed ground.
but it reminds me of Adlai Stevenson back in the 50s. A lady...

How little you know bout the publishing trade.
The copies of a best-seller give as premiums earn an author the same royalty.
It's all part of the promotion; without which an author would complain to the publisher for not doing enough. You squawk:
"Palin can't even counter the Clintons in book sales - legitimate book sales, that is."
Pity you should bring up the Clintons. Grifters like Bubba & the Hildebeast sell about a fourth of what Cool Ann and Rush sell. Can YOU even remember what Hillary wrote about? Nobody can!
But millions of Americans can easily quote many of the saucy Ann Coulter's Zingers. You, grace, are one of those insignificant liberal ...

I don't know about ACORN, but there were articles early Fall 08 that John Podesta was organizing a site/group to rebut conservative sites/information.
I don't believe what he was proposing was the same as Media Matters, but something entirely different. Information on his founding such a site/group disappeared from the media within a week or two. (Think I last heard it mentioned on MSNBC in September 08(?)

As with most libs, strong women with strong characters and strong convictions drive them utterly bananas.

There is a few things wrong with your not-very-bright statement that Sarah's book can be obtained free.
1. One has to subscribe to a magazine, that one might neither want or need. Price of magazine subscription? In the neighborhood of 27-28 dollars, I suspect.
2. How many folks do you think will subscribe to the magazine that were not already subscribed?
3. I went to three different book stores the morning of the 17th and was either unable to get the book because they were sold out, or because I was not willing to stand in a long line of folks waiting to purchase the book.
4. Seven hundred thousand books were sold the first week and the book is now in its second printing. Probably far less than one...
