Trump Slams NBC Over Corrected Wiretapping Report

President Trump slammed NBC News in a tweet Friday morning over a major correction they issued both on air and online Thursday after they incorrectly reported that Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, had been wiretapped.

“NBC NEWS is wrong again! They cite ‘sources’ which are constantly wrong,” Trump tweeted. “Problem is, like so many others, the sources probably don’t exist, they are fabricated, fiction!”

He lamented that the former home of The Apprentice is “now as bad as Fake News CNN.”

NBC initially reported Thursday that “Cohen's phone lines had been wiretapped, meaning a judge had given investigators approval to listen to phone calls.”

The original story reporting the wiretap cited two sources with knowledge of the legal proceedings.

However, after three senior U.S. officials disputed that report, the network issued a correction. The officials said the monitoring of Cohen’s calls was limited to a log of calls which simply monitors incoming and outgoing calls to a number rather than listening in on them.
