New Poll Shows President Trump Gaining Black Supporters

Over the past few weeks, rapper Kanye West has openly expressed his support for President Donald Trump after saying he likes the way conservative commentator Candace Owens thinks. Under a barrage of criticism from his peers and Hollywood, he's refused to back down.

Although black voters overwhelmingly vote for Democrats, a new Reuters poll shows Trump gaining significantly with the demographic. Specifically, with black men. From the DC:

A poll taken on April 22, 2018 had Trump’s approval rating among black men at 11 percent, while the same poll on April 29, 2018 pegged the approval rating at 22 percent. It should be noted that Reuters only sampled slightly under 200 black males each week and slightly under 3,000 people overall.

Trump experienced a similar jump in approval among black people overall, spiking from 8.9 percent on April 22 to 16.5 percent on April 29.

On the 2016 campaign trail, Trump attempted to court black voters by saying they had nothing to lose by supporting him.

Meanwhile, unofficial White House advisor Darrell Scott is reportedly working on a summit with President Trump, Kanye West and other culture leaders about race.
