Ryan Announces He Will Run For Speaker

There was growing speculation this week that Paul Ryan would not run for reelection as Speaker of House of Representatives. Ryan put those rumors to rest Friday during a Wisconsin radio station interview. Speaking to WTAQ’s Jerry Bader, the top Republican leader referred to the chatter as “palace intrigue,” and dismissed such talk altogether.

“This is the typical chatter you have every two years… I am going to seek staying on as speaker… There’s a lot of unfinished work to do,” said Ryan. “I can do a lot to help our cause, our party.”

Like most interviews he’s done in the past few months, Ryan heavily touted his Better Way agenda that serves as a blueprint for conservative policy solutions and a response to the Obama-Clinton agenda.

Unsurprisingly, Ryan had to address his somewhat rocky relationship with presidential nominee Donald Trump. The speaker has taken heat for choosing to focus on assisting down-ballot Republicans instead of helping Trump.

However, a noticeable last-minute excitement for Trump has been seen in Ryan in very recent appearances. He enthusiastically spoke on the need to elect Trump during a “Fox & Friends” interview, even announcing he had voted early for the GOP nominee.

Ryan has spoken on the necessity to work with a future Trump White House on repealing and replacing Obamacare.
